20 Affirmations Series: Affirmations for Gratitude

A simple shift in perception can change your entire mood. Your mind will believe everything you tell it. Feed it faith, feed it truth, and feed it hope. Just choosing to be grateful makes what we already have enough. In this very unique year, please take the time to be grateful for ALL of it. I know so many of us are ready to throw this year away and try again. Trust me, I understand that completely but I refuse to live the rest of my life pretending all 365 days of this year were bad.

Although all of that is true, I will not sit here and type this out as if I am always expressing gratitude. I must admit, it can be hard to see how such a big inconvenience can yield something to be grateful for. Too many times, I catch myself complaining. Sometimes about "smaller" things like if my order is wrong at a restaurant, if my Uber took a wrong turn and made me five extra minutes late or if I stub my toe on the corner of my bed. Other times, it is ""bigger" things like past hurt, anxiety, insecurities, and staying sane in a world that does not always love you back.

We must take time to consider that everything is working out for us, even if it presents itself as an inconvenience. My favorite book tells me this: all things work together for the good of those who love God and I lean into that when nothing seems to be going right.

I challenge you to practice gratitude in this next month. I know this year seems to have very little to be grateful for, but I promise the things to be grateful for is there; you just have to look for them. Here are some of my favorite affirmations for gratitude:
